The rate, and who can get it

The rate

no export rate of its own.

Source: octopus.energy, checked 3 September 2026.

Who can get it

  • Must have a heat pump (air or ground source), an electric boiler, or electric radiators at the property to join Cosy Octopus itself
  • Smart meter required (SMETS2, or compatible SMETS1)
  • Must be an Octopus Energy customer
  • Export is only available by separately joining an Outgoing Octopus tariff -- see that record for its own conditions

Octopus's own recommendation is to pair Cosy Octopus with a separate Outgoing Octopus export tariff -- either Outgoing Fixed (see octopus-outgoing-fixed) or Agile Outgoing (see octopus-agile-outgoing) -- for households that also export solar.

The Clearline honesty check

Does this pair with a Clearline-arranged installation?

Yes, in principle. Octopus Energy does not require the solar or battery to be installed by Octopus Energy itself for this rate.

Because Octopus Energy publishes no single rate for this tariff, we have not run it through the payback model; see the tariff it pairs with instead.

Takes about two minutes. We work out your options, then confirm your free remote design call, on video, at a time that suits you. It starts with your roof and your numbers, and the design is built around them rather than around a product someone needs to shift.

Installations can only go ahead for homeowners, as the system is fixed to the property. Do carry on if you own it, or you are about to.
Flats and apartments usually share a roof, which rules most installations out. Send your details anyway and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
