Per kWh stored is the installed package price divided by everything the battery can store if it fills and empties once a day for its whole manufacturer warranty; per usable kWh is the price divided by the datasheet usable capacity alone. Both are arithmetic on the prices above, not manufacturer figures.
On the calculator's opening settings (£150 a month on electricity, no solar, charging at 8.5p off-peak), a B15 on its own is worth about £712 a year, a simple payback of about 7.0 years on £5,000. Two B15 at the same settings are worth about £744 a year on £9,800: extra storage only pays when there is evening use to fill it. Your own numbers are in the calculator.
The battery half of Hinen’s A15 system
The B15 is a 14.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with its battery management system built in. It has no inverter inside, so it works with a Hinen A-series hybrid inverter, which your design call sizes to your home.
Hinen sells the pairing as the A15: an A-series hybrid inverter plus the B15. B15 is Hinen’s marketing name. The model on the datasheet is B14400-HW, and that datasheet is where every figure on this page comes from.
It is a shallow unit, 730 mm wide, 740 mm high and about 180 mm deep, rated IP65 for indoor or outdoor siting, with natural convection cooling and so no fan in the battery. At 117 kg, what it stands on or hangs from is a real question and not a formality, which is one of the things the survey settles.
Hinen B15: fourteen kilowatt hours, and what you actually get to use
13.68 kWh usable
The 14.4 kWh is the energy in the cells at the datasheet’s test conditions. 13.68 kWh is what Hinen gives as usable, at 95 per cent depth of discharge, and it is the number our calculator uses. Compare any battery on its usable figure, never the one on the box.
14.4 kW rating, set by the inverter
The datasheet rates the battery at 14.4 kW, with 16.2 kW as the maximum charge and discharge, reducing with temperature and state of charge. What your home can draw at once is set by the inverter it is paired with: on Hinen’s UK datasheet the A6000S has a 6 kW AC output.
8,000 cycles or more
Lithium iron phosphate, tested to 8,000 cycles or more at 95 per cent depth of discharge. One full cycle a day is a little under 22 years of use, so the 12-year warranty is the shorter limit and the chemistry the longer one.
Build your Hinen system
What a Hinen B15 costs fitted
Our package is £5,000 installed for one B15, and £9,800 installed for two giving 27.36 kWh usable, which is £200 off the second battery. Every install comes with a free backup gateway (Hinen SmartBox).
Both are pictured with a Hinen A-series inverter, which the B15 needs to run. The inverter is sized on your design call, and your written quote itemises exactly what is in each package.
The B15 is sold both with solar panels and as a battery on its own, at the same battery price. The £200 off a second battery applies to solar installs and to battery-only installs alike, and the free gateway comes with every solar plus battery install and every battery-only install. With solar, panels are priced at £1,000 per kWp installed on top, and the calculator above adds them.
The B15 works with a Hinen A-series hybrid inverter. The price is £5,000 installed, and your written quote, which follows a free home survey, itemises exactly what is in your package. Domestic battery storage in Great Britain carries 0 per cent VAT until 31 March 2027 whoever fits it; our guide to the 31 March 2027 deadline covers what that means.
Prices and offers as at 28 October 2026. Per usable kWh, one B15 works out at £365 and two at £358: arithmetic on the two package prices, not a manufacturer figure.
What the free Hinen SmartBox adds in a power cut
Every B15 install comes with a free backup gateway (Hinen SmartBox). It is the part that turns backup from some of the house into all of it.
Whole-home backup means that when the grid fails, the gateway disconnects your home from the grid and the battery and inverter feed your whole consumer unit. Every circuit keeps working, the oven and the shower included, up to the limits of the system. Partial backup feeds only a chosen set of circuits, usually the lighting, fridge, boiler and router, from a separate backup output.
Without the gateway, the inverter’s own backup output gives partial backup, limited to the inverter’s backup rating: 6 kW on the A6000S. With the gateway, Hinen rates the SmartBox S1-100 for whole-house backup at up to 100 A (23 kW), with an automatic transfer switch, Type 2 surge protection, an integrated breaker and a manual bypass switch built in.
That 100 A is the gateway’s rating, not the system’s output: the battery and the inverter set what can run at once. The S1-100 is Hinen’s gateway for single-phase A-series systems and mounts on the wall, rated IP65, and the design call confirms it against your supply. Our guide to whole-home against partial backup works through the trade-off.

One B15 or two
Two Hinen B15 in parallel: 28.8 kWh
Two B15 working in parallel, 27.36 kWh usable, £9,800 installed, with £200 off the second battery, so the second one costs £4,800. The datasheet supports up to six in parallel, so two is well within its design.

| Weight | 117 kg | 234 kg across two units |
Cost per usable kWh is arithmetic on the two package prices above, not a manufacturer figure. The year-one rows are the site's own calculator model, battery only, no solar: £150 a month is about 6,839 kWh a year and £250 about 11,398 kWh at the 26.32p cap rate (1 October to 31 December 2026), charging at 8.5p off-peak.
Before going to 27.36 kWh, be honest about whether you would cycle it. A second battery only earns its place if you have the evening consumption, or the export rate, to fill and empty it most days. An EV or a heat pump usually justifies it. A quiet two-bedroom house usually does not, and we would rather say so now than after you have paid for it.
Room to grow
Hinen B15 scales from 14.4 kWh to 86.4 kWh
Hinen’s datasheet supports up to six B15 in parallel on one inverter, which takes the system to 86.4 kWh rated and 82.08 kWh usable. You can start with one and add more later.
Rated energy in kWh, by number of B15 on one inverter
Up to six B15, 86.4 kWh rated
| B15 units | Rated energy | Usable energy | Installed price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 unit | 14.4 kWh | 13.68 kWh | £5,000 installed |
| 2 units | 28.8 kWh | 27.36 kWh | £9,800 installed |
| 3 units | 43.2 kWh | 41.04 kWh | Priced on your design call |
| 4 units | 57.6 kWh | 54.72 kWh | Priced on your design call |
| 5 units | 72 kWh | 68.4 kWh | Priced on your design call |
| 6 units | 86.4 kWh | 82.08 kWh | Priced on your design call |
Rated energy for one to six units, and the 82.08 kWh usable total for six, are on the datasheet. The other usable figures are 13.68 kWh multiplied, our arithmetic. We publish prices for one and two units only; three or more are priced on your design call.
The sizing question is how much electricity your home actually uses between sunset and sunrise, because that is the only energy a battery can shift, not how big the stack can get. Most homes need one or two units, and six is the datasheet's ceiling, not a target. Our guide to sizing a home battery works through it properly.
Three homes the Hinen B15 fits, and one it does not

Homes that want whole-home backup
The free SmartBox gateway is the point. If keeping the whole house running in a power cut matters to you, the B15 comes with the hardware to do it, and 13.68 kWh behind it.
A big evening load
An EV on an overnight tariff, a heat pump or a family kitchen uses the energy a battery can move. One B15 covers a typical evening and two, at 27.36 kWh usable, cover a heavy one.

New solar, or a battery alone
The B15 is sold both ways at the same battery price, with the same free gateway. It is designed to work with Hinen’s own inverter, so a new solar install or a battery-led job both suit it.
The one it does not fit as a published package: a home with solar already on another make of inverter that wants to keep it exactly as it is. The B15 is built to work with Hinen’s A-series inverter and the Hinen documents we have read do not describe it alongside another make, so that is a design call question, not a published package. A quiet home that uses little after dark will not fill 13.68 kWh a day, and a smaller battery, or none, may pay back sooner.

Price rows are our own installed package prices, subject to survey; per usable kWh is that price divided by the datasheet usable figure. Specification rows are each maker’s own datasheet (Hinen, read 28 October 2026; Tesla and Duracell, read 20 August 2026). Our price comparison is not like for like on what is inside each package, so your written quote itemises exactly what you are getting.
Where the B15 leads
The longest warranty term of the three, 12 years against ten, and a battery sold with or without solar at a published price, with a free gateway for whole-home backup. Per usable kWh it comes in at £365, below the Powerwall 3 at £470.
Where the Powerwall 3 leads
The inverter is inside, so a new install is one box, and its on-grid output reaches 11.04 kW. Tesla guarantees 80 per cent of capacity at ten years, a higher floor than the B15’s, with no cycle limit for ordinary home use. Backup needs a Backup Gateway 2, which we itemise. See the Powerwall 3 page.
Where the Dura16 leads
The most usable storage in a single unit at 14.4 kWh, and the lowest price per usable kWh we quote at £309, for a battery fitted alongside new solar. It trades power for capacity and price, at 6.6 kW. See the Dura16 page, or our guide to the Powerwall 3 against the Dura16.
Hinen’s twelve-year warranty, and the conditions that come with it
What it covers
Hinen’s 12-year battery warranty, with a performance guarantee of at least 70 per cent of usable capacity for 12 years from first installation. The period starts from the earlier of six months after manufacture or first installation.
The conditions
The card sets an ambient operating temperature of minus 10 to 50 C, and a claim needs the battery’s state of health below 70 per cent with total throughput under 4.38 MWh per kWh. The warranty period is shortened for a unit that is not connected to the internet, so keep it connected.
What it does not cover
Hinen chooses whether to repair or replace. The card does not cover installation, removal or labour costs. It transfers with the building if the battery stays installed.
The B15 reached the UK market in August 2026, so there is no long UK service record to point at. That is a reason to read these conditions and not only the number of years. Hinen’s warranty sits alongside our own workmanship warranty on the installation, which your quote sets out. Our guide to what happens when a battery manufacturer fails is worth reading whichever brand you choose.
Warranty terms from the Hinen Battery System Warranty Card (European edition), read 28 October 2026, and the Hinen B14400-HW datasheet. Your written quote sets out the exact terms for the unit supplied.

How much does the Hinen B15 cost installed?
Our package is £5,000 installed for one B15, and £9,800 for two giving 27.36 kWh usable, which is £200 off the second battery. It is sold with or without solar at the same battery price, and a free backup gateway (Hinen SmartBox) comes with every install. With solar, panels are £1,000 per kWp installed on top. Prices as at 28 October 2026, subject to survey, and domestic battery storage carries 0 per cent VAT until 31 March 2027.
What does the Hinen B15 work with?
The B15 is the battery only, with no inverter inside it. It works with a Hinen A-series hybrid inverter, which Hinen sells together with the B15 as the A15 system, and the right inverter for your home is chosen on your design call. Your written quote itemises exactly what is in your package.
What is the free backup gateway?
It is the Hinen SmartBox S1-100, and it comes free with every solar plus battery install and every battery-only install. Without it, the inverter’s backup output gives partial backup, limited to the inverter’s backup rating. With it, the whole house can run from the battery in a power cut, up to the gateway’s 100 A rating and the limits of the battery and inverter. It is made for single-phase A-series systems, and the design call confirms it against your supply.
Can I have a Hinen B15 without solar panels?
Yes. The B15 is sold both with solar and as a battery on its own at £5,000 installed, and the free gateway and the £200 off a second battery apply to battery-only installs as well. On its own it fills from cheap overnight electricity and runs your home through the expensive hours.
How long will a B15 run my house in a power cut?
With 13.68 kWh usable and a home drawing around 0.5 kW overnight, it would run for about 27 hours from full, before conversion losses. Run the kettle and the oven and draw 3 kW and it is nearer four and a half hours. Two B15 double both figures. What can run at once is set by the inverter, and the gateway is what lets the whole house run from it.
What is the Hinen B15 warranty?
12 years from Hinen, with a performance guarantee of at least 70 per cent of usable capacity over that period. It carries conditions: an ambient operating temperature of minus 10 to 50 C, a throughput limit of 4.38 MWh per kWh, and a shorter period if the unit is not connected to the internet. Hinen chooses whether to repair or replace, and installation and labour costs are not covered. These are from Hinen’s European warranty card, and your written quote sets out the exact terms for the unit supplied.
How many B15 batteries can I add?
Up to six in parallel on one inverter, which is 86.4 kWh rated and 82.08 kWh usable. We publish prices for one and two B15, and three or more are priced on your design call. Whether your wall or floor, and your supply, allow a later addition is exactly what a survey confirms.
How does the B15 compare with a Tesla Powerwall 3 or a Duracell Dura16?
The B15 offers 12 years of warranty against ten on both, and is sold with or without solar at £5,000. The Powerwall 3 has its inverter built in and reaches up to 11.04 kW. The Dura16 has the most usable storage in one unit at 14.4 kWh and the lowest price per usable kWh we quote, fitted with solar. Which suits depends on your house; our comparison section above sets the figures side by side.
