The kit, and what it costs installed

Named manufacturers and named prices, so you can see the number before you speak to anyone. Each page carries the full datasheet and a calculator that starts from what you spend a month.

Solar is priced separately at £1,000 per kWp installed, using the 530W LONGi Hi-MO X10. All prices installed and subject to survey.

Real homes, tidy work

What good looks like

Neat rows, clean cable runs, no drama. The standard the installation team for your area is held to.

Aerial view of a steep slate roof densely fitted with black solar panels on a rural chalet-style home, scaffolding still in place
A stone-built UK bungalow with a full all-black solar panel array across the roof pitch

UK installs, photographed in the UK. The standard we hold every installation team to: neat rows, tidy cable runs, certified work.

How it works

Design first. Then the survey,
the quote and install day.

The order matters. You understand your options before anyone quotes you, and the advice you get is independent of any kit sale.

01

Tell us about your home

Two minutes on the form. Property, roughly what you spend, and what you are interested in.

02

Free remote design call

A video call, not a home visit. We look at your roof and usage together and talk through what fits.

03

Home survey and written quote

When you are ready, a home survey confirms the design at your property and your written quote follows. MCS is the certification most export tariffs require an installation to hold before they pay you.

04

Install day and switch-on

The installation team for your area fits the system and handles the paperwork, backed by their own MCS certification, insurance and workmanship warranty.

Independent explainer

How solar actually works, from the Energy Saving Trust

Before you take our word for it, here is the UK's leading energy charity explaining the basics.

Instant estimate

See a number before you speak to anyone

Answer a few questions about your roof and usage and see an instant solar and battery estimate. No email needed to see the result.

Two places to start

The maths, and the map

The tariff behind the kit decides half the payback. Where you live shapes the rest. Both have their own guide.

The right tariff matters as much as the right kit

Export rates, off-peak windows and smart tariffs from suppliers such as OVO, Octopus Energy and E.On Next all change the sums. We keep a plain-English comparison, dated and sourced, and talk it through on your free call.

Every county has its own Clearline page

England, Scotland and Wales, county by county, each with local solar figures from the European Commission's PVGIS database and the same free design call. Find yours on the interactive map.

What vetted means

The bar every installation team has to clear

"Vetted" is doing a lot of work on a page like this, so here is exactly what it means.

MCS certified

Current MCS certification, which is what your export payments and workmanship standards depend on, plus the accreditations their work requires.

Ten years or more trading

An established business with a real track record, not a company formed last year to chase a grant scheme.

Reviews that hold up

We read an installation team's Google and Trustpilot history properly, over years rather than as a score. A warranty is only worth the company standing behind it.

Fully insured

The insurances in place that protect you if something goes wrong on your property.

Priced competitively

Pricing that stands up against the market. A vetted installation team that quotes badly is no use to you and no use to us.

Checked before, not after

All of the above is confirmed before we put an installation team in front of a homeowner, not after a complaint.

Every installation is carried out by teams holding:

  • MCS certified
  • TrustMark registered
  • NAPIT registered
  • NICEIC registered
  • RECC member

FAQs

The things everyone asks

What does the free design call involve?

A video call of around 45 minutes with an energy expert. Your roof on screen, your usage talked through, and clear next steps. Nobody visits your home, and nothing is booked until you say so.

Who carries out the installation?

The design is ours: your roof, your usage and your numbers worked out before anyone quotes you. The installation itself is delivered by an MCS-certified installation team for your area, working to that design and backed by the team's own insurance and workmanship warranty, so one accountable process covers design, installation and aftercare.

Do I have to be with a particular energy supplier?

No. We explain how tariffs from suppliers such as OVO, Octopus Energy and E.On Next interact with solar, batteries, EVs and heat pumps, and you choose. Some of the strongest export and smart rates do require being supplied by the company offering them, and we will always tell you when that is the case.

What does it cost?

The guidance, the design call and your quote are free, with no obligation. The installation itself is priced by the installation team for your area and depends on your roof and the kit you choose. For a ballpark before you speak to anyone, the instant estimator gives you a number with no email needed, and every county page has a calculator built on installed pricing. If you go ahead, you pay the installation team, and we are always clear about that before it happens.

What is MCS certification?

MCS is the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, the UK standard for small-scale renewable installations and the people who fit them. It matters to you for one practical reason: most export tariffs require your installation to be MCS-certified before they pay you for exported energy. Every installation team we work with holds it.

Which areas do you cover?

All of England, Scotland and Wales. Every county has its own page, and the map on the coverage page takes you straight to yours.

Takes about two minutes. We work out your options, then confirm your free remote design call, on video, at a time that suits you. It starts with your roof and your numbers, and the design is built around them rather than around a product someone needs to shift.

Installations can only go ahead for homeowners, as the system is fixed to the property. Do carry on if you own it, or you are about to.
Flats and apartments usually share a roof, which rules most installations out. Send your details anyway and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
