Which Aiko 485 W is it? The model codes
"Aiko 485 W" is not one product. AIKO makes it in four series that share the size, the 24.3 per cent efficiency and the 30-year output guarantee, and differ in glass, colour, fire class and product warranty. Your quote names the exact code; this is what each one gets.

Size, weight and how many fit your roof
Each panel is 1762 x 1134 x 30 mm and takes about 2.00 square metres. Ten of them make 4.85 kWp and need roughly 20 square metres of clear roof plus space around the edges.
Two rows in portrait need about 3.5 metres of rafter, closer to 4.1 with edge clearance. That is the advantage of this size: it is 228 mm shorter than the LONGi 530 W in our standard package, so it suits rear roofs that a longer panel would overrun, and roofs broken up by windows, vents or a dormer. The survey decides, which is why we say "subject to survey" rather than imply ten panels drop onto any house.
Weight: 21.1 kg single glass, 24.2 kg dual glass. The survey checks the roof and its fixings for the array you choose.
Efficiency and output on a British roof
At 24.3 per cent module efficiency, 485 W comes from 2.00 square metres. On a UK average roof ten of them generate around 4,490 kWh a year; the calculator above uses your own area's sunshine figure.
Two datasheet numbers matter in British weather. The temperature coefficient, minus 0.26 per cent per C, means a hot roof in July costs a little less output than on older designs. And the power at NOCT, 367 W, is the rating under 800 watts per square metre of light and a 20 °C day, closer to real outdoor conditions than the laboratory 1,000 behind the 485 W headline.
Shade, orientation and split roofs
The smaller panel gives a designer more freedom: more of them fit around a chimney or a roof window, and two roof faces can each take a short run. AIKO's back-contact cells also handle a small, hard shadow better than a standard panel in AIKO's own tests, though an independent test found the gain small overall. Our Aiko page sets out both.
Warranty on the Aiko 485 W, by code
Thirty years on output
Every Neostar 3 series carries the same 30-year performance warranty: at least 99 per cent of rated power in year one, then no more than 0.35 per cent a year, leaving 90.6 per cent at year 25 and 88.85 per cent at year 30. On a 485 W panel that is still about 431 W after three decades.
The product warranty is by series
The cover on the panel itself depends on the series, not the wattage: 15 years on the P series (AIKO can extend it to 20 or 25), 25 or 30 years on the S series. Your written quote names the exact model code, so you know which applies before anything is fitted.
What it does not cover
The output guarantee is for the front of the panel only. AIKO chooses whether to repair, replace or refund, and its terms leave removal and refitting costs with the owner. Claims go to AIKO or its authorised distributor in writing within 30 days of spotting a fault, with the panel serial numbers.
AIKO warranty documents: Distributed Common Modules, Residential Modules v1.8 and Full-black Gen-3 Infinite Modules v1.2, read 29 October 2026. The warrantor is Zhejiang AIKO Solar Technology Co., Ltd.
What an Aiko 485 W installation costs
Aiko 485 W panels are £1,000 per kWp installed, so ten panels, 4.85 kWp, are £4,850 before any battery, subject to survey.
That is the same per kWp as our LONGi 530 W package. A bare panel's trade price online leaves out the inverter, mounting, scaffold, electrical work and MCS certification.

Are Aiko panels MCS certified?
Yes. Every Neostar 3 series at 485 W and 535 W is on the MCS product directory under certificate MR 50677721, issued by TÜV Rheinland to Zhejiang AIKO Solar Technology and valid from 16 May 2025 to 15 May 2030. We checked the directory on 29 October 2026.
That matters for your export payments. To be paid under the Smart Export Guarantee a supplier asks for an MCS installation certificate, and that certificate can only be issued for modules on the directory at the time of installation. Your certificate names the exact panels fitted. Our guide to the Smart Export Guarantee explains what to do with it.

Which Aiko 485 W panel is it: 3S, 3S+, 3P or 3P+?
All four exist at 485 W, plus the older 2P+48. They share the 1762 by 1134 mm size and 24.3 per cent efficiency; they differ in glass, colour, fire class and product warranty. The all-black S series carries 30 years of product cover at this wattage, the P series 15. Your quote names the exact model code.
How big is an Aiko 485 W panel?
1762 x 1134 x 30 mm, about 2.00 square metres, and it weighs 21.1 kg in single glass or 24.2 kg in dual glass. That is 228 mm shorter than our standard LONGi 530 W panel, which is the reason to choose it on a short roof.
How many Aiko 485 W panels do I need?
Ten panels make 4.85 kWp, a common size for a family home, and generate around 4,490 kWh a year on a UK average roof. Eight make 3.88 kWp. The right number comes from your usage and your roof, which is what the design call works out.
Is the Aiko 485 W all black?
The S and S+ series are all black: black cells, black frame and a black back. The P and P+ series have a black frame and a white backsheet, which you see from behind the panel rather than from the street. From the front, both look evenly dark because the cells have no grid lines.
What is the warranty on the Aiko 485 W?
30 years on performance for every series, with at least 88.85 per cent of rated power at year 30. The product warranty is 30 years on the all-black 3S54 and 3S+54 at 485 W, and 15 years on the 3P54 and 3P+54, which AIKO can extend to 20 or 25.
What does an Aiko 485 W panel cost?
Our Aiko 485 W installations are £1,000 per kWp installed, so ten panels (4.85 kWp) are £4,850 and twelve (5.82 kWp) are £5,820, before any battery.
